Okay, so here 's the problem. when i put the key in and turn it to the iii position is clicks and than doesn 't start or just starts for a second or so and then dies out. this hasn 't happened before and only started happening today. ive tried reconnecting the battery but that didn 't do anything. the one thing that lights up is that green start-up key icon. the key im using is the correct one & i am also driving back to tht car with my other car with the spare key and the vallet key to see if that fixes anything. assuming that the key isn 't the problem, does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Hello, i currently am debating on buying a 1997 honda crv. it has 192,xxx miles on it. the crv has had 4 brand new tires put on about a month ago and has 4wd. they are asking 900 dollars for it. my main use for the car would be going back and forth to school in. (about 6 miles round trip). the oil has been changed every 3k miles as well. would this be a good buy? also my commute will change when i go to college, i will be driving about 40 miles round trip then. i will have a job by then though. thank you for your advice! the timing belt and water pump have already been replaced at 100k miles (or close to there). the crv is coming from a family member who supposedly has not beat on it, it was just a commuter vehicle with mostly highway miles. I have a 1998 honda crv, 130k miles. just recently the car started having problems. when i started it up yesterday afternoon after it had sat overnight (it wasn 't cold out, outside temperature was about 60 when i started it in case that matters), it idled normally at the typical startup rpms of around 1200rpms for about a minute. then, as i was driving down the road, the idle dropped to about 600rpms and it started running rough and shaking a bit. it was sluggish and the check engine light began flashing. the rough idle and shaking continued after i stopped driving and was just parked stationary. i pulled over and had it towed home. i believe i also smelled an odd smell. maybe just the catalytic converter? any ideas what it could be?my friend brought his obdii scanner over and we got the codes. they are codes p0300-random cylinder misfire detected, p0301-cylinder 1 misfire detected, po303-cylinder 3 misfire detected (Read answers)

I was trying to start a 2000 honda crv with a remote start and the timing belt slipped. i brought it to a mechanic and he said the oil is all burned, i have no compression, and the motor is ruined; and that sounds a excessive. after they told me it would cost about $2600 to fix it, they tried buying it from me. so i don 't know whether or not to trust the shop, could the timing belt slipping cause this damage? they car has about 175,000 miles (Read answers)
